The House Restaurant @ The Cliffhouse Hotel

We have visited the Cliffhouse hotel on numerous occasions, you can actually read about our previous stay by clicking here.  For this visit however, we just thought we would give an overview of our dining experience in it’s Michelin star restaurant which is headed up by chef, Ian Doyle*.

Let’s just get to it, this was without a doubt, one of the greatest meals we have ever had in Ireland, it was fantastic.  Course after course things seemed to be getting better and better.  The presentation of the dishes was simple and unpretentious, the flavour of each course, a triumph.  Locally sourced never tasted and looked so good, this is a chef who has a vast array of knowledge and experience of their trade.  I will let the photos do the talking.  On a side note however, I have to commend the front of house staff.  I am unsure how much input the head chef has on front of house, but this was without a doubt some of the best customer service we have ever experienced in a hotel.  The staff were attentive, warm, friendly and chatty.  It was not just one or two member of staff, but every one of the front of house team was a credit to the management of the Cliffhouse, it was flawless.

For your information, the first few photos are of the room and a view from our room, but this as said, is all about the food.

*At time of writing, Ian Doyle has left the Cliffhouse. While we have no idea where he may have gone to, we have a suspicion that perhaps he may be planning on opening his own place. We will just have to wait and see and if this is the case, we plan on being first in line to try it out.

Until next time

Bye for now
